New from Wayland Software in 2006 is GPS FieldMaster Pro. The package combines the flexibility of hand-held GPS technology with the power of digital mapping software to create a cost-effective farming tool.
In the field the GPS system can be used to record crop boundaries of both part and whole fields, calculate cropped area, measure distance and pinpoint problem areas. Back in the office the data recorded can be transferred to computer to create detailed cropping plans and records.
Information from the mapping software can also be uploaded to the GPS, allowing field work to be tailored to the specific needs of individual areas.
Typical applications for the GPS FieldMaster Pro include:
- Measuring cropped area of whole and split fields (up to 10 individual areas)
- Onboard navigation
- Creating map based cropping plans
- Sharing data with contractors and agronomists
- Identifying under-performing areas
- Logging tree positions
